Winter\u00a0Climbing 101 is our introductory level climbing day. \u00a0Perfect for anyone wishing to gain basic winter climbing skills. \u00a0Whether you are prepping for a trip to a destination such as Mt. Rainier or Denali, see the appeal of vertical ice climbing, or just want a leg up for local winter hikes\/climbs; this is the starting point. \u00a0We go over equipment used, proper crampon technique, how to use an ice axe (for both upward progress as well as self arrests), tying into a climbing rope, and belaying. \u00a0There is plenty of climbing time from low angle snow to steeper pure ice climbs. \u00a0At the end of the day you will be much more capable at moving over frozen winter terrain, and will have a solid foundation to build future skills upon.<\/p>\n

Where:<\/strong> \u00a0Generally at one of the many sites within the White Mountains of New Hampshire. \u00a0Specific location information will be determined upon booking. Popular areas include Cathedral Ledge<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Frankenstein Cliff<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Time: <\/strong>1 Day, 8:30am-4:30pm<\/p>\n

Cost:<\/strong> $125 per person (minimum of 3\u00a0person enrollment for class to run).\u00a0 OR<\/strong> Book a Private Course<\/a> and have the flexibility of your own date, time and material covered.<\/p>\n

Equipment:<\/strong> We provide harnesses, helmets, mountain boots, crampons, ice axes\u00a0and all other necessary hardware. \u00a0You are responsible for your own food, water, and appropriate clothing. \u00a0See our recommended equipment list for details.<\/p>\n

Not Included: <\/strong>Food, lodging and transportation is not included.<\/p>\n

What Next:<\/strong>\u00a0 Upon completion, guests will be well prepared to take either the Ice Climbing 201<\/a> or the Technical Mountaineering 201 <\/a>course.<\/p>\n
